Default Genetics Question: C.elegans/mutant generation

Hi,
I have a basic genetics research question. If i wanted to study a bunch of genes that I believed to be important in the process of touch sensation in C.elegans, how would I go about this. I guess the first step would be generation of those mutants, but then what?
Thanks for your help.
