waiting for your answer

Hi dear
yes, it is interesting question, but other should also think about it and must give some clues about this question.

Very interesting. any ideas?

i think it may have something to do with Bacterial motility and pili

pilli can take up nutrients?

HI PORTY I
It could be but it not seems to be possible, because when bacteria grow on some solid media, then they are not motile.
the chances here about the mechanism of getting nutrients is
diffusion of nutrients due to the formation of small tubes like strucutre within the growing cells, and second thing is
the bacteria that are in contact with media get nutrients and divide rapidly so push the cells upwards, and this process continues, and then the bacteria that are present at the top start becoming dead, and you can also obserb this by growing bacterial colony for some days, and hole apperas in the center of colony after some days.
there may be some otther mechanism but what i think i have described above.
i look forward for comments

Biofilms ... maybe the bacterial growths due to the fact that they are genetically identical colonies act together as biofilms....

biofilms are quite similar in that bacteria "work" together to let nutrients in while protecting the bacteria from antibiotics...

interesting thread...

aftabac is right. Even though the lytic products can also act as substrates, the energy content reduces and the necessity of having enzymes to metabolize the available substrates limit the ability of bacteria to form an eternal growth cycle. That leads to an interesting question. Just like an eternal machine is it possible to build an eternal cycle in which entropy increase is minimized and the system can feed itself?

hai
some bacteria like gram negative Pseudomonas uses quorem sensing mechanisms for biofilm formation. it uses signaling molecules for biofilm
formation.
