Default total coliform and e.coli count (MPN method)

Hi all, I have encountered a doubt on the result of coliform and e.coli count.
My sample is water sample. The results I obtained is e.coli count is greater than coliform count. Does it make sense? For coliform count, i use Lauryl tryptone broth(LTB) and incubate for 48hr, then confirm with EMBA. For e.coli, I transfer the positive LTB to EC broth and incubate for 48hr at 44C. Then i transfer to EMBA, and transfer the metalic sheen colony to tryptone water for indole test.
Based on my understanding, e,coli is part of coliform. So, supposingly coliform count should be greater than e.coli. Why am I getting the reverse results?
Anyone can help me out with this?
Thank you.
