 Fermentation Fermentation provides a mechanism by which some cells can oxidize organic fuel and generate ATP without the use of oxygen. There are two common types, although there are many types. They are alcohol fermentation which is where the pyruvate is converted to ethanol, and latic acid fermentation where the pruvate is reduced directly by NADH to from lactate as an end product. Anyone else know other types of fermentation?  |
