Type of Mass Spec for 13C metabolite analysis

Dunno much about mass spec.
What type of LC/MS instrument is required for obtaining isotopomer
distribution of 13C labeled metabolites ?

I would appreciate if someone could point me to simple references
explaining the main differences between MALDI TOFF ESI etc
