Default CHCA or SA in MALDI???

The rules in MALDI-TOF say:
CHCA matrix for small MW proteins, digested peptides
SA matrix for whole/large MW proteins.

Unfortunately I have really high quality CHCA (Agilent) and low-quality SA (Sigma). Anyone get good results using CHCA on whole undigested proteins?

Why not use the linear mode?

Thumbs up Re: CHCA or SA in MALDI???

DHB could be a reasonable alternative. Generally, you can use higher concentrations of DHB vs CHCA, because it is inherently more soluble. Also, ProteoChem offers all of these matrices, including a high quality, purified SA.

Good luck with your research.

you can use CHCA also for protein. The problem using CHCA for protein is the formation of multicharged ions (2-3-4-5-6 etc etc).
