Default Re: How to learn Mass spec

Hello. I do like the CSH protocols site. got good information. Proteomics studies is a way, besides, also can consider metabolites/drug metabolites or metabollomics research lab using tandem MS.
As to books, I have been looking for bible kind of MS books for long but I doubt there are. In fact, I acquire my knowledge and experience day by day, little by little from many books, literatures, internet discussion (discussions from different kinds of forums), just read as much as you can, also you may find many of them is not very informative (but knowledge obtained from the reading/thinking processes from different point of views of different authors), truely good or good-reading books are not many.
If really want, try ' LC/MS: A Practical User's Guide Author(s): Marvin McMaster ' I come across this one from several literatures, and 've been looking for it long, although haven't got to read, but have the instinct it may worth reading a bit, and I like it 'practical guide', referring to hand-on experience.
If go for proteomics, try 'Protein Sequencing and Identification Using Tandem Mass Spectrometry (Wiley-Interscience Series on Mass Spectrometry) Michael Kinter, Nicholas E. Sherman', some useful protocols, practical tips
So far not very much work with metabolites on MS, so not familiar with the relevant books.
Besides, if say a very good-reading book, so far I like most 'Mass Spectrometry Basics
Author(s): Robert Johnstone,Christopher Herbert'. Before it, I read some of MS books, but this one I enjoy reading/like it from first time then from time to time. It's of general aspects, but always refresh my thinking after read it again and again. Unlikely, very expensive to buy it, I just copied some of the chapters. If possible, I want to buy a second hand.
Hope these information helps.:-) In my opinion, proteomics with LCMS is not easy.
