| Laboratory glass is used for generally scientific experiments in chemical and biological laboratories. Plastic is cheap and more durable but in some cases glass is still being used for some experiments because it is relatively inert, transparent, more heat-resistant than some plastic up to a point, and easy to customize. Borosilicate glasses are often used because they are less subject to thermal stress and are common for reagent bottles. Laboratory glass are durables but some precautions must be taken inconsideration such as 1) Do not place glass over direct heat or open flame 2) Do not expose to dry heat above 110 C (230 F) 3) Do not expose glass to temperatures above 80 C 4) Do not refrigerate below -20 C (-4 F) 5) Do not remove the protective coating. Do not use the vessel on which coating is hardened, darkened or damaged |
