Default Re: Are knockout mice transgenic mice?

I think many people would consider KO-mice to be transgenic. Although the final product doesn't always contain a transgene, a transgenic cassette is always used to generate KOs, it just happens that the cassette is often removed.

So I think it would be worth mentioning the aspects of transgenic technology that are used in generating KO alleles in embryonic stem cells.
