Question tagging proteins in mice

I would like to N terminal tag my endogenous protein in mice by targeting it with homologous recombination in ES cells. I am worried that the addition of the tag will change the KOZAK sequence, and affect the translation. This is especially a concern since in normal cells, two alternative translation products can be detected. Does anybody know if tagging a protein effects its translation due to a change in the sequence around the first ATG?
