Conventional Knockout - Is there Easier Functional Analysis?

Hi .. I am new to this forum . could any one help me out on this problem.

I wish to learn the function of a protein and have designed a conventional knockout vector for my study However i feel that this is taking up a long time. COuld anyone suggest me a more faster technique to learn the function of a gene.
