Protein Disulfide Bonds and Fixation of Tissues in Histology?

Hiya dudes,
a weird question for all those histologists....

during fixation of tissues and cells what exactly happens to intracellular cysteine disulfide bonds with formaldehydes and paraformaldehydes?

Isnt it known that PFAs cross-link proteins? What about formaldehyde?

Do these fixatives stabilize bonds?
thanks:mellow:
