| Hi, Tell me why plants have more GC-coding sequences as compared to animals n why animals have more AT-coding sequences as compared to plants? awaiting, af malik |

| Hi its variable not costant thing..as if we see microbes they have varity GC to AT ratio, some have more GC contents then AT and vice versa. one reason for high GC contents in Plant could be the temperature as they have to bear a high temperature and harsh environment as compared to Animal and more GC contents symbolize more stable genome, so the organsim that live in hars environment must have more GC contents as compared to AT.... if someone knows it more exectly then should share..... regards aftab |

| As far as I know from the study on microorganisms, the higer the CG conent, the harsher the enviroment they dwell in. So is the case with extremophiles. This seems not to be true in all cases. For example genus Bacillus has comparatively low GC content but can survive in harsh conditions, but only due to spore formation... |
