| Hi According to me there is no any thing which we call as Junk because everything has some role that it has to play. but it could happen that at present we donot know the function of that particular thing and we call that as junk. I know from literature that the DNA which is considered junk DNA has role in Genome regulation (expression regulation) and also involve in Genome stability and also maintain chromosomal shape and give the chromosomes stability. more detail will be welcomed............ regards aftab |

| Junk DNA is always with a pair of quotes, we call them junk because we don't know their functions. The assumption is that nature is smart, and any DNA sequence must be there for a reason, but, I guess no one will have a definitive answer. |
