benzonase to get rid of nucleic acids

Hi everybody!
I wanted to ask whether somebody have used benzonase to shear DNA and to solubilize a protein from a chromatin pellet.
I needed a "protocol" just to know incubation times, how many units to use (Istill have to order it, maybe there are alternatives).
After shearing DNA I just want to load my protein on SDS-PAGE, my final goal is to test whether an interaction requires DNA to take place, so I want to get rid of DNA.
Thanks a lot for any answer!
