Inheritance of Methylation

Hey guys,

I forget but I read somewhere that methylation is not inherited although methylation at the mitochondrial DNA is from the mother.

Any ideas or comments on this?

i think the inheritance of methylation is quite an interesting question, and there are a lot of scientists are studying the question.
such as Dnmt1 in animal, while met1 in plant, which take part in maintaining the CG methylation, playing an important role in the inheriance of methylation during mitosis.
