What are properties of sound?

A very broad question! Here are some bullet points which you can use to begin your study: Sound travels by waves. It needs a medium to travel through (eg. air, water). This is why there is no sound in space. It travels at 1,100 feet per second, compared to light waves which travel at about 186,000 miles per second. The amplitude, wavelength and frequency of the wave characterise it's "sound". Look up the "Doppler effect" to see this in action! Goodluck!

Could you narrow your question just a bit more? I could also add here: It could take the most disturbing forms to your ears and mental state

A physical definition could describe sound as a wave motion propagated in an elastic medium, travelling in both transverse and longitudinal directions, producing an auditory sensation, by the change of pressure at the ear
