Hi i have seen movie few days ago and that was Last Days On earth. in this movie they ranked different factors that could cause the end of life on earth and the top factor was Drastic Envrironmental Changes. So according to them the rapid environmental changes that are happening around as earthquick, heavy rains, floods, Hot seasons etc are the major factors which could cause the end of life on earth. it is also fact that the temperature of globe is increasing due to many factors and this has very drastic effects as the ice on poles is melting, and so the water level of ocean is increasing, in addition there is more rains in different parts of the worlds and so on. i would like if my fellows add more comments on this topic best regards aftab

It is unlikely that "Drastic Envrironmental Changes" will cause the total end of life on earth. This type of thing happens every era or so; small remnants of populations will inevitably survive and continue to replicate. However, from an purely evolutionary standpoint, if "humans" were to become a totally extinct species in the near future, organism-building processes through time would inevitably cause "humans" to possess a totally different form, instinct and metabolism. For example, our descendants may well end up looking like Michael Jackson, Chewy or even Katie Holmes! Last edited by NATHANALANPATRICKROGERS; 02-16-2009 at 07:55 AM. Reason: typo

Good point. There certainly have been catastrophioc events/changes - the evolution of photosymthesis certainly being one of them. Life has persisted and continued to evolve.
