Primary Antibody Shelf Life?

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody could tell me whats the average shelf life of a primary antibody in PBS when kept in the fridge.

e.g. if I take an aliqout out of the freezer, and add PBS to it to make a 100 fold dilution, and then keep that in the fridge (and make further dilutions from that as needed gradually till it is finished.)

How long will this solution last in the fridge??

hmmmm i'm not sure i don't take chances. i aliquot in small amount and when needed then thaw and use finish it. i am not sure if adding additive would help to make sure it last longer...

just read somewhere that it is suggested to use BSA at 2% when store in 4C but you would have to check whether ur antibody got degrade or not after that. sodium azide and other additive maybe possible too. if you have molecular manual, it may be best to cross check it... sorry i don't have any manual currently ... who want to donate to me? lol

Stabilized unconjugated antibodies ready-to-use format : suspend between 0.001 and 0.1 mg/ml poly- or monoclonal antibody in stabilizing diluent (dissolve in 700 ml of dH2O, phosphate buffer 0.1 M or Tris-HCl buffer 0.1 M, 8.5 g NaCl, and adjust pH at 7.2. Then dissolve 5 g BSA, 40 mg Congo Red [Direct Red 28] and 0.5 g NaN3. Check pH, adjuste if necessary at 7.2 ± 0.1, and to take 1 liter with dH2O. Mix gently and filter on 0.2 µm filter, aliquote in 10 ml glass dark bottle and store at 4 °C, stable one year.
