 Imprecise P-element excison - where does the P-element go? I am trying to generate a genomic deletion by imprecise P-element excision but I was wondering, following excision, where does the P-element go? Does anyone know what happens to a P-element when it has been excised with a transposase? Can it randomly re-insert itself into the genome? Or does the break that occurs during excision not lend itself to re-insertion (because of presence or lack of overhangs) and the insert is simply degraded? If you have any thoughts on this I'd love to hear them...  |
