I am pretty sure that is not possible... (in my experience at least). Did you check your genetics? Are the embryos from the right females? Could the stocks / crosses have gotten contaminated?

Also instead of leaving them 2-3 days, could you do a cuticle prep (after aging it 24+ hours) to check that they are indeed embryonic lethal?

Hope this helps

I checked it and did it several times, always the same result. Maybe my larvaes can't hatch because of defects in the musculator or nervous system?

sorry,I don't understand where there is the relation between the cuticle prep and the lethality, except that I now know that the embryos must be older than stage 16. embryos? I did cuticle preps today! I had embryos with a normal cuticle, after treating them for 2 min. with Chlorix (100%), when I treated them for 4 min with Chlorix I observed larvae-like embryos! So there is another question that arose to me..can the chlorix also remove the vitellinmembrane?
And a last question, sorry, does anyone know a good internet source, paper... where I can find pictures of DAPI-stained embryos of stage 16 and 17?
Thanks alot in advance!
