| We are openning a public center for performing full-genome RNAi screens in Drosophila. To characterize gene functions on a genome-wide scale in Drosophila, we have generated in collaboration with Dr. Renato Paro's group (Heidelberg, Germany) a library of double-stranded RNAs (dsRNAs) directed against all predicted open reading frames. This resource can now be used to conduct high-throughput cell-based RNA interference (RNAi) screens to identify genes involved in various assays. The goal of the Drosophila RNAi Screening Center (DRSC) is to make this technology available to the community and to provide a central database of RNAi screening results in Drosophila. | Positions for Research Technicians The Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics Indiana University, Bloomington The Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics at Indiana University, Bloomington, carries out research in functional genomics and bioinformatics, working both autonomously and in collaboration with faculty. The CGB is expanding to create a new NIH-funded Drosophila Genomics Resource Center (DGRC) that will produce research materials and carry out exploratory studies on behalf of the Drosophila research community nationally. In connection with the DGRC, the CGB has immediate openings for several technical staff. Successful applicants will assist CGB scientists in producing, testing, and distributing DNA microarrays, maintaining and distributing an important archive of DNA molecules, and growing and distributing cell lines. They will also assist in research projects associated with these efforts. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. or M.S. in Biology or Biochemistry and some laboratory experience in molecular biology, cell biology, or genomics. However, candidates with degrees in other scientific fields will be considered. Given a good scientific background, enthusiasm, interest in the projects, and reliability will weigh more heavily than the field of the degree. The CGB is a growing research center that is part of an active and expanding research community in the life sciences. Seee our website ([Only registered users see links. ]) for more details about our ongoing activities and collaborations. Both positions are open now and applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. Those received by September 1 will be assured full consideration. Please submit a cv and a description of your background and interests, and arrange that 3 letters of recommendation be sent directly to: Genomics Search, Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics, Indiana University, 1001 E. 3rd St., Bloomington, IN 47405-3700. Indiana University is an affirmative action equal opportunity employer. -------------------------------------------------- Jennifer Steinbachs, Ph.D. Deputy Director The Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics Indiana University Jordan Hall Bloomington, IN 47405-3700 voice 812.856.1858 fax 812.856.9340 [Only registered users see links. ] -------------------------------------------------- |
