Question regarding 70% EtOH in EtOH Precipitation
I mistakenly added 10% EtOH instead of 70% EtOH for an ethanol precipitation protocol. It wasn't until 6 hours later that I realized my mistake. Is there any way I can fix my giant mistake, or is this a lost cause? I am so mad at myself I can't even think straight. Thanks in advance to all who can offer advice.
Re: Question regarding 70% EtOH in EtOH Precipitation
Have you spun down your sample yet? If not, then just add more ethanol until you get the final percentage you were aiming for. You may have to split your sample into a couple of tubes if the volume gets too high, but your sample should spin down fine. I also suggest adding some carrier to help it come down; we use Glycoblue.
If you have spun down your sample, didn't see a pellet but went ahead anyways, you may be out of luck unless you saved the supernatant.
