Default Plasmid DNA question? Any help appreciated.?

Why can addition of chloramphenicol to a growing culture of bacteria carrying a DNA Cloning Vector often lead to amplification of the plasmid DNA?

well Bacteria need vector in this case for survival so as long drug is there, it is amplified....otherwise bacteria consider it as un-necessary and it get diluted with time and finally lost......
so as long as durg is their in media, there is amplification of vector inside the bacteria...
hope you got it......
