| You don't need a special machine. But you do need a long wave UV light source to view the bands of DNA. The DNA will appear orange. This product is called a UV light box, or UV light source. That's what I"ve been using for years now, and that's how I've named it. You can take a picture of this with a special filter over the camera, which blocks UV light but allows the bands to show up wonderfully. Hope this helps! |

| All you need is UV light. You can use a table top lamp where you place the gel on top and it is illuminated from underneath. Or you can shine UV light on top of it. Either one works, but some of the weaker hand held lamps may cause problems. (Also, remember to shield yourself from the light, esp your eyes.) |
