DNA fingerprint?

I understand what a DNA fingerprint is used for such as indentification, but my question "how" is it that the fingerprints appear in a contoured - curvy - form?

Re: DNA fingerprint?

You might want to take 5 minutes to check out this (cutsey but relatively accurate) [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] on the Nova website.

The fingerprint in this activity is created by [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...], and is visualized as a pattern of different sized bands (not curvy)...

Are you talking about DNA sequencing (where you can get traces that look like this?)

Or [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...], which are not DNA-dependent (even identical twins have different fingerprints)?
