Default 260/280 ratio indicating Low DNA Quality

I attempted to extract bacterial DNA from three samples of soil, and all three yield low 260/280 ratios (1.16, 1.24, 152 ug/ml). I used dH2O during my purification stage and I was wondering if I could just Elute my samples with TE buffer in order to clean up the samples to get a higher quality of DNA and avoid starting over from sratch?

I have the opposite problem , my 260/280 ratios are super high.
higher than 10 sometimes.
I am gel purifying a PCR fragment any advice?

Hi there,
yes you can use DNA columns to not only clean up and try to improve your purity, but also elute in buffer of smaller volume to concentrate DNA, such as eluting with Tris buffer of the correct pH.
