I am a student who has extracted DNA at home from a variety of plant sources for a school project. I used my microscope at powers up to 1600x (oil immersion) and snapped some neat photos, but I just don't think I know what I'm seeing! ![]() At first I was excited because I thought I was seeing DNA, but then I read that there's no way I could see that with my microscope. Am I seeing clumps of DNA strands or is it nothing to do with DNA? If anyone could please help I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Definitely not DNA. Sorry

Looks like fungal hyphae. Usually the at-home strawberry extraction yields lots of goopy "DNA" but the product is so unclean as to be unusable in molecular reactions...although the extraction process is fun (I've used it in 2-6th grade classrooms).

Yeap no DNA definetely and these are actually big organneles if not clumps of cells. I am no plant expert. To see bunch of DNA you have to lyse the cells and then clear the cellular extracts from proteins lipids etc and then in the phase of adding isopropanol there you can see clumps of DNA like very fine threads.
