as i did, genomic dna concentration can be determined by using electrophoresis with marker lambda. you can compare the length of your extracted genome with the marker.

Or check it spectrophotometrically. I usually do it in triplicates per sample then average the concentration. OD260. For purity check OD260/OD280 and OD260/OD230 ratios.

If you want to check the quality, electrophoresis will show you whether it's fragmented or not.

Regarding extraction a lot of simple extraction kits are available commercially. I myself use Qiagen's kit for isolating DNA.

Did someone already extracted DNA from a Pulmonaria species? Or maybe from another hairy, silicium-containing plant species?
