Default ovulation microscopes- when the ferning pattern goes huge ?

Hi ladies. I hope you don't mind me asking here because I am not having sex or pregnant but you know your stuff, I am sure most of you are familiar with what i'm talking about.

I have been testing my saliva since 26th Sept and it has ferned every single day including when I was on my period.
On the 3rd day of my period the pattern changed from small delicate ferns to a HUGE version of them (the microscope was focussed the same every day, and I tested at the right time, no eating drinking etc)

Does anyone know what that means?
I thought when the fern was strong you were ovulating but my ferns were freakishly strong during my period.

and i'm not on any BC, but i'm guessing I may have dodgy hormones.
I'd still like to know what the ferning change means though
