| Because optical systems inherantly invert images by refraction as light passes thru the lens. This reqires the inclusion of a "rectifying lens"in the optical path. Microscopes, and astronomical tele- scopes,lack them.Rational being that additional lenses within the system absorb and reflect more light, and left/right-up/down are relative and redundant to the application. |
