Unhappy how to use HPLC???

Please, is there anyone which could help me with the HPLC technique? I am new, too new at this. In few words: I do not have any idea.
The problem is that my lab have bought one about one month before than I started my work, the person who attended the couse and was trained for its use went away before I arrived without transmitting his knowledge to anyone. So the chief of the department told me to get work the HPLC. I am afraid to use it since I am not able to, but he expects that I can. He thinks that an HPLC is just like a microwave or an homevideo (he is not a scientific of course) and that I can do everything with only the instruction of the software. He doesn't accept to have spent a lot of money for the instrument and the training and that know it is in the lab to catch dust.
Pleaseeee, help!
The HPLC is a Jasco instrument.

Hi, you should relax. HPLC is in fact simple enough that you can read a manual and figure it out. Also it is very easy to get the company reps to schedule another training session---just ask.

Hi, thanks for your advice. I contacted the company and they asked about 1500 € to give me an additional training session, just because they consider that they gave the first one to the same place for the same instrument. It is too much for us.
HPLC looks quite complicate to me and I think that I have to try. Do you know any book which can help me with the technique and the theory?
Thanks

Wow, feel free to name the lousy company, so others can take warning.
Here's an HPLC online textbook ---> HPLC Frames
Hope it helps.
