| I am studying my master at a university in malaysia. I am Iraqi. I came to malaysia as I thought they are advance in the bioinformatic field. The problem is, when I start my research with my own proposal I suffered from unqualified and unresponsible supervisor. I spend almost 7 months working with him and I changed the project three times. At last I discovered that the mother of my problems is the supervisor himself as he didn't do his jop in supervising me. So I decide to change my supervisor, but the same problem is repeated. At that point, I had been full of Suspicions about the capability of this university in this field. And my suspicions confirmed after visiting of one Prof. from the university of Hawaii to our lab. I have bachelor from the University of Mosul college of pharmacy in 2003 in pharmaceutical science . I am 26 yrs old. I have good experience in my field as well as in physical chemistry, computer programing, 3d modeling and in many molecular modeling softwares. I have graduated from my college with first honor degree. As I am Iraqi, I don't have enough money to spend any more in Malaysia specially my money goes unfairly to unresponsible persons. So I decided to change the university and the country looking for my hope. Any one has usefull information is encouraged to send it to me. I hope to get a scholarship or any legal supply covering my expenses during study. I think if I stay in Malaysia more, I'll lose my interest in this field or even in science. | Have you considered taking courses online. There are many excellent programs available. I tried to post some URL's with this suggestion but this forum won't let me add any external addresses until I've made fifteen posts, so perhaps I can give them to you later. Good luck ![]() |

| Dear Mohammednoor, I feel for you, bro... I suggest that you inquire if IRRI in the Philippines has any job offerings that require your expertise. You may want to consider applying for a scholarship grant from the University of the Philippines at Los Banos. If you get accepted, you may be able to do your research in IRRI (provided they permit you to), and it is possible for you to have two advisers, one from IRRI and one from the University, both of which will provide you with check and balance so the thing you experienced with your past adviser can be prevented. There are currently a lot of Korean students taking graduate studies in the University of the Philippines, and I know that you will find amicable people in IRRI, maybe even some of your countrymen. Filipinos are very hospitable, and very humble and polite. I think you will like, if not enjoy your stay...well, if you decide to go...and did I mention that almost everything is cheap there (except gas, of course...but we don't need to talk about that...). Hope you find your home in the Philippines. |
