| | Re: What is a ro membrane?
As an example, letís consider a container that is hypothetically divided into two equal sections, separated by a semi-permeable membrane. One section is filled with seawater and the other section is filled with distilled water. Naturally, without any external force, water molecules from the distilled water section (lower salinity side) will flow through the membrane to the seawater section (higher salinity side). That is the process of osmosis.
