Hi, I tried to make Glycerol - water solution (Glycerol 60%-water 40%) but could not get the solution to be homogeneous enough (was not well dissolved at all). I am not a chemist, so do forgive me if this is too simple, all what I did is to weigh both liquids and mix them together. Is there a way to get well dissolved Glycerol-water solution? Thanks

Just keep mixing -- it'll get there eventually. Glycerol is miscible in water. Did your protocol say to make a 60% mixture by weight? Usually I make glycerol dilutions by volume. Just curious. It may help if you add something to help things roil around in there -- like a magnetic stir bar or some clean glass or metal beads (think of nail polish bottles).

Well, I've chosen 60% mass of glycerol just to get certain viscosity (~10.5 mPa.s) and surface tension (~67mN/m). I did mix it for like 15 seconds but it didn't seem going to mix up so I give up. I think I'll put both liquids in a bottle with metal beads and give it a good shake for few minutes hopefully that will make it mix. If you still have any advice please let me know Cheers
