Insulin is used to treat type 1 diabetes in adults and children who are at least 2 years old. Insulin aspart is usually given together with another long-acting form. Type 2 diabetes (non insulin dependent) is normally treated with other medications such as Januvia, Byetta, glyburide or metformin.
