Can you help me with this (probably simple) chemistry problem?
We got a review packet for our final and I can't remember how do to do ones like this:
The equation for the synthesis hydrogen chloride gas (HCl) is H2 + Cl2 ----> 2 HCl. How many grams of hydrogen chloride (hydrochloric acid) would be produced from the complete reaction of 8.0g of hydrogen gas (H2)?
The number of moles of hydrogen atoms will be conserved.
8 g of hydrogen mean 8 / 1 = 8 moles of Hydrogen atoms.
As one mole of HCl has one hydrogen atom, 8 mole of hydrogen atoms will be there in 8 moles of HCl.
8 moles of HCl weigh 8 * 36.5 = 292 grams.
