If you added CA as a preservative to the water then that went left field. CA is a nutrient component for many micro-organisms. Not stated what your solution is indented for, I'd go first with HAc, propionic acid or benzoic acid, the three mostly used, FDA approved, antimicrobials. Google for you specific needs.
