He was an excellent physical chemist by the name of Ricardo Pastor. He found it out the hard way at Columbia University when working for Harold Urey. I believe that was in respect to work on how heavy water affected fish. If this is really important to you do a search using names of Urey, Pastor, and the term heavy water.
