| I had an opportunity today to look at an organic chemistry book published in India. It is by Chatterjee and is intended to help 3rd year engineering and and medical students pass their exams. Some of the questions in the book actually cite the exams and years they were taken from. It is light on theory (it was written in the 1960's) but that is consistent with the intended students and the goal of helping them pass the exams. What I think will be instructive will be comparing it with some of the massive organic chemistry books that American students have to read, which I tend to think serve a similar purpose, except that the exam they will have to pass will be the final.
