I'd say the general formula for phenolics is something like --- R2,3,4,5,6-C6-O-R ---, where the C6 is the benzene ring and the R's can be H or anything else. Phenolics is also a term used for various Ph-OH/CH2O type resins like Bakelites etc. -- and even more loosely is applied to bio-active anti-oxidants etc. -- and, yo, Donald Haarmann, post some of your usual, good literature refs. hanson |
