| hi I am trying to make 100g of Zinc chloride (zinc + hydraulic acid) Zinc atomic weight (Zn) = 65.4 zinc chloride formula weight (Zn Cl2) = 136.3 hydraulic acid atomic weight (hcl) = idon't have so 100g will need as much zinc as = 100g /65.4 * 136.3 = 48g Am I wright (last chemical course was 20 years ago) and how do you calculate the needed hydrochloric acid? Thanks jif |

| "Jif" <[Only registered users see links. ].mit.edu> wrote in message news:[Only registered users see links. ] t.sa... HCl = hydrogen chloride (mw 36.5). Hydrochloric acid = approx 32% HCl in water. It worries me a bit that you call it "hydraulic acid" 2 out of 3 times. Also that you got the right answer (48g) with the wrong calculation. How pure is the zinc? You sure you want to do this reaction? Barry Hunt |
