Default siliconi oils ..can I colour them?

Dear All,
i'm doing little research for an experiment, I am looking for two liquids
that do not mix, like water and oil, that I would like to colour.
Somebody told me to use siliconic oil adn coloured water, but what id I want
to colour also the oil fractuion, is that possible? You mighj have seen this
type of system in those fancy cilindrical lamps or other gadgets stuff..

Any leads?

thanks in advance

Glass

Silicones are generally very poor solvents and you may have trouble getting
colour to dissolve.

Why not use ordinary mineral oil or vegetable oil which are easy to colour
with normal oil-soluble dyes?

If you're just looking for lava lamps look them up on Google - they're not
just any old oil and water.

Hmmm..lava lamos worked with wax,
in a cycle that shows a melting and solidification process, I'll try with
mineral oils!

Barry,
thank you very much for your help.
