Normal procedure for preparing molar solutions is to dilute a known weight of reagent to a known volume of solution. If you think about it you cannot use a pipette for adding the diluent because you don't usually know the exact volume of the reagent (and if you did you may get change of volume on dilution). Have you come across a volumetric flask? This is the normal receptacle for these solutions. Barry Hunt |
