| I am interested in setting up a home lab to teach myself organic chemistry. I need to know if the materials and equipment necessary to complete the equivalent of an undergraduate course are restricted in europe/asia/the US. Also if expensive and precise equipment such as scales is really necessary. Thanks in advance |

| From: [Only registered users see links. ] or: tinyurl.com/mtk3 Lab apparatus, including tableting machines, "a filter, Buchner, or separatory funnel," Erlenmeyers, Florence flasks, Soxhlet extractors, "a transformer," heating mantles, etc. are considered chemical laboratory apparatus that are "designed, made, or adapted to manufacture a controlled substance or a controlled substance analogue." Chapter 481, Texas Controlled Substances Act, specifically statute 481.080. Effective September 1, 1989. It is interesting to note the ambiguity around "transformer," one of which may be found in virtually every home that has a battery eliminator. The permit form may be found here: tinyurl.com/mtko Do not send e-mail to the address in the header. It's a spam trap. -AJHicks Chandler, AZ |
