Default pH electrode storage solution

Aside from having a calibrated pH, is there any reason why electrode storage
solution should be used instead of buffer solution as an environment for pH
electrodes? Maybe a slight difference in cost.

The storage solution and the electode filling solution should match as close as
possible for the longest life and best performance ... That said, little
difference is noted unless they are way off ... like distilled water or very
concentrated solutions ... other factors cause deterioration of life and
quality to a larger degree ...
