If you shoot a dog which is attacking you on your own property, I think
the police will cut you some slack in most states.

That said, I have a friend whose neighbor had a dog which somehow found a
bucket of auto radiator antifreeze. The dog lapped up the sweet-tasting
liquid, then died shortly thereafter.

Leaving antifreeze out is EXTREMELY BAD!!! Children and animals will tend
to drink it and get poisoned. YES CHILDREN!!! Don't do this because you
may accidentally poison your toddler.

I would simply voideotape the pooch in question as well as the actions of
the owner, then present it to the police. They may (depending upon the
laws of your state) order the dog to be put down.

Or better, sue your neighbor. If you've been wronged, you
have a right to have the situation made right (umm, there's
a more legal sounding phrase, but oh well) and remember,
in a civil suit, the requirement is simply "a preponderance of
evidence" as opposed to the criminal threshold
of "beyond a reasonable doubt."
