I forget how to calculate percent yield. We started with 1.5 ml of distilled h20, 1.0 ml of concentrated sulfuric acid and added 1.0 of 2-methyl-2-butanol. We ended with .386 g of 2-methyl-2-butene. Any help would be appreciated

Hi, First you want to normalize by moles so you have to divide the volume by the molecular weight and multiply by the density. Divide your product by the molecular weight to get it's value in moles. Now divided the moles of product/moles of sm and multiply by 100. You could probably also google this to get the answer.

well let me make it simple theoratically and according to the reaction 1mole of 2-methyl-2-butanol will give 1mole of 2-methyl-2-butene u can find each number of mole since for the first no of mole = concentration * volume..............n1 and the second no of mole = mass/Molar Mass.....n2 then Yiled = n2/n1 * 100 Hope this helps
