Hello,
i am not sure why i cant find a good answer to this question but how do cells attach to the surface of tissue culture flasks?

thanks

1st most mammalian cells are adherent, so the extracellular membrane will contain hydrophobic glycoproteins & mucins in general and integrins, cadherins, selectins and other cell-adhesion-molecules (CAMs) in particular.
2nd some culture flasks will be protein coated (protein tends to stick to most non-natural substances) and will likely have ligand properties that will attract the adherent cells.
3rd other flasks will be coated with inert chemical monolayers like PEG, tri-Ethylene Glycol which can act as substrate/ligands for various proteins in the ECM, most likely glycoproteins

Didn't find too many sources, this was most useful to me --->http://www.rsc.org/ej/CS/2000/a705397e.pdf "A surface chemistry approach to studying cell adhesion"
