Exclamation Comparison of Cell Lysis Methods

Hiya dudes has any1 compared the different cell lysis methods?

what should you use when?

for example is homogenization a tissue specific method, or can you use it for cells too???

Also freeze thawing? when do you use it??

Cell Lysis Methods I found:
  • Sonication method
  • French press method
  • Freeze Thaw method
  • Passive lysis method
  • Homogenization
Is there a convention when to use these?

I've used freeze thawing for lysis of gram-positive bacteria for DNA extraction.
